Areva Med Domestic Distribution and Purification Unit (DDPU) Research Laboratory

Plano, Texas

The DDPU will house AREVA Med research and production operations for producing high-purity lead-212 (212Pb). This rare metal is at the heart of promising research projects in nuclear medicine for the development of targeted alpha therapy (TAT), an innovative approach allowing a radioisotope to recognize and destroy cancer cells, while limiting the impact on nearby healthy cells. The DDPU will supplement AREVA Med’s overseas production of 212Pb capacity by mid-2016. The initial phases of the facility will mirror Areva Med’s progression thru the US-FDA regulatory approval stages, with Phase I including GMP research labs, collaboration space, and administrative areas. Future phases in the planning stage will include additional research and manufacturing space. The Hill & Wilkinson design build team is responsible for master planning, process flow, equipment planning, and full design services.
