The Williams Performing Arts Building is a 78,000 square foot signature building on the Abilene Christian University Campus. Delivering the vision of a design architect, Los Angeles based, Keating | Khang Architects required early design phase consensus in how the signature design would be articulated within the Construction Cost Limitation (CCL). The mix of unique materials, the incorporation of radii and structural design, economizing installation methodologies and reviewing compatibility of materials among architectural, structural, and MEP design all met both appearance and functional expectations.
The building is a two story-cast-in-place frame structure with a precast double tee roof system. The exterior is brick and limestone with a two-story curtain wall at the main entrance. The interior finishes include stone flooring, a three foot black granite wainscot, and wood paneling in the main entry.
